Modern art - what is it?

Fatigue, a kind of frustration with realism, began to be felt in the middle of the 19th century. Academic teaching and style no longer matched the progress dictated by the Industrial Revolution. Already in their works, the Impressionists began to create artistic, intertwined motifs, to depict certain feelings and emotions by means other than the usual means of expression. In addition, until the 19th century, the most frequent clients were aristocrats who wanted to be immortalized, and with the Industrial Revolution, the rise of income, and Zigmund Freud's book The Interpretation of Dreams, artists were able to rely on dreams as a source of ideas and make a living from other orders. In this way, modern art began to take shape, which was not subject to the forms, techniques and means of expression used until then.

Modern art is made up of different currents. Their most famous are Expressionism, Cubism, Futurism, Abstractionism, Dadaism, Art Deco, Pop Art, Fauvism, Surrealism and others.
