Sigitas Nenorta 1933-1999

He studied painting at the Vilnius Art Institute under Vladas Karatajus and Jonas Svazas, and in 1966 he became the first graduate of Jonas Svazas. In 1971, he became a member of the Union of Lithuanian Artists, from 1976 to 1986 he worked as the chairman of the board of the Kaunas branch of this union.

S. Nenorta participated in about thirty group exhibitions, organized 7 personal exhibitions. Won the international Miklos Kaplars prize (Hungary, 1974), and in 1983 S. The name of a well-deserved artistic figure was given inappropriately. The artist's works have been purchased by the National M.K. Ciurlionis Art Museum (22 pieces), the Lithuanian Art Museum (3 pieces), public institutions, private collectors in Lithuania and abroad.

The artist was born in 1933. Joginiskiai village, Kriukai surroundings, Sakiai district. He studied at the Kriukai Gymnasium, later, after studying Lithuanian language and literature for a couple of years at the Pedagogical University, he returned here to teach. In 1960, he went to study art at the Vilnius Art Institute. in 1967 started teaching at Kaunas St. Zukas Technical School of Applied Arts (later Kaunas Higher Art School; J. Vienozinskis Faculty of Arts of Kaunas College), where he worked intermittently until his death in 1999. This college named the art study hall after Sigitas Nenorta.

The artist's artistic activity was not limited to painting: he created book covers, illustrations for Nemunas magazine, wrote articles about creativity and the social mission of the artist
