Forms

As the exhibition’s title suggests, the focus is on forms—shapes, volumes, and textures—that have never before existed in reality. This creative shift was inspired by a desire to break away from the rules and academic dogmas dominating the art world, as well as from the everyday objects, silhouettes, and conventional materiality familiar to the eye. It was a drive to set myself and my creative imagination free—liberating them from images seen elsewhere that might be lodged in the subconscious—and to distill only what my being feels in the present moment. At the same time, when viewing a sculpture that depicts nothing specific, each person can discern something unique, recognizable, and personally meaningful. This is possible precisely because both the form and the concept of the sculptures are abstract. I pursue this without overlooking the importance of aesthetic sensibility—indeed, I place great value on it—crafting sculptural objects that are visually appealing and unusual, yet simultaneously captivating, intriguing, and inviting the viewer to circle them and take a closer look.
For the first time in my work, I am employing a charred oak technique, which interests me for several reasons:
the deep black color allows for an aesthetically compelling presentation of the bronze volumes, thereby providing a foundation for the exhibition; Burnt wood evokes associations with fire, heat, and ash—from which the fruits of my creative work rise like a phoenix, born of an inner creative fire. Raw, boldly cut pieces of wood, transformed into pedestals for the sculptures, lend the exhibition an air of mysticism and primal energy, while harmoniously blending with the patinated bronze elements.
Indeed, that sense of mystery surrounding the exhibition seems to silently pose the question: what is this, and where does it come from? Yet, not every question requires a concrete answer.
