Etching is the main area of graphic design. True, the artist does not shy away from lithography, pencil drawing, painting or computer experiments. As if to try everything to make sure the etching best reveals his intentions. There are no empty places in the artist's works, untouched by the needle - the background is printed with small dots of different size and density, drawing as if random lines, which convey the impression of a cracked, uneven surface. It is a long and painstaking process - only two or three larger format sheets are created per year. In his creations the artist carefully studies history. "I collect material, I photograph, so this semi-scientific work is created," says the artist. This is how the work From the Life of Raphael, created during the 2009 symposium in Urbino, Italy, appeared. The author even studied the maps of several cities where Raphael created, got acquainted with his life and thus this unique graphic work of E.Rudinskas was born, which, according to the author, can be read like a book constantly revealing something new.
Egidijus Rudinskas was awarded the prize of the Lithuanian Artists' Union and the International Book Art Triennial Prize for Illustrations (1997), the first prize at the International Biennial of Graphic Arts (Frankavila al Mare, Italy, 2000), the prize at the international small print exhibition Mini Print Cadaques (Barcelona, Spain, 2000), The Golden Badge of the Lithuanian Artists' Union (2008).
