Sigita Laubengaier

Born in Lithuania in 1967.
Now a freelance artist, living in Stuttgart-Hedelfingen, Germany.
Passion for art has always been a part of the artist's life, since childhood her teachers noticed her talents and encouraged her to create, but with the collapse of the Soviet Union, chemistry and pedagogy studies seemed more important to Sigita
than art. For many years Sigita Laubengaier could only paint at night, and during the day she worked on non-art-related works.
Along with various other works, I created many drawings as an expression of inner emotions. The creative process took place spontaneously, without any prior plan. I often felt that my everyday life had become routine, which stifled the joy of creative work. I think that growing awareness also influenced my decision to devote myself entirely to art since the beginning of 2004. For me, my work and life are in a certain sense connected. Art is a way of life, in which you need to explore both your inner and outer world. Painting for me is not only a mental and emotional, but also a physical act, demanding all my strength, but also deeply fulfilling. My goal is not to recreate what I saw, but to find balance and connections in a fragile and vulnerable intermediate state, between what is known and what can only be felt, between desire and reality, between mind and matter. I do not want my paintings and their interpretations to be unambiguous. I want the viewer to see their own visions in them. S.L.
