Stasys Jusionis 1927-2022
1953 He graduated from the Vilnius Art Institute and started actively participating in exhibitions. During the long years of creative work, the artist painted thematic paintings, portraits and landscapes. His works have been exhibited in many places and spread widely in Lithuania and abroad. 1981 Stasys Jusionis was awarded the State Prize for his cycle of landscapes.
The landscape that Stasys Jusionis sees is Lithuania, which has remained little, which no longer exists, which remains in the memory of his childhood, youth and friends. This is a Lithuanian village. This is the land of K.Donelaitis, J.Žemaitė, J.T.Vaižgantas, B.Brazdžionis.
Painter Viktoras Vizgirda, describing the artist's work, wrote: “Stasys Jusionis is one of the most prominent landscape painters in post-war Lithuania. Its colorful, mostly autumn landscapes cheerfully convey the charm of Lithuanian nature, old stems, trees that glow in autumn colors or bloom transparently in spring. The stretched hills, the lakes of the ravines, the rolling hills, the old and well-thought-out homesteads in the thickets of lush vegetation merge into a harmonious whole. All of his creations are a colorful play of richly rough strokes. S. Jusionis consciously transforms the Lithuanian landscape according to his nature. Its landscape architecture is always cemented into a generalized and contrasting ensemble of contrasts. ”
