Audrone Petrasiunaite, Bluses of the Vertical Horizon, March 25- May 25, 2022
Obsessed with Blues
Along with the tireless change of natural cycles, new works by Audronė Petrašiunaitė are being born. After the summer - canvases glowing with light and colors, after the winter - with delicate embroidery or linen carvings that tell an inner experience. We are already used to the fact that winter is a time when Audrone's paintings fall silent, dark evenings and hidden light do not allow the colors to speak. She has repeatedly said that she has become only in natural daylight. The winter evenings spent with the cat Erkiulis inspired a new cycle of graphics, in which Audrone swings and sings together with Janis Joplin. Not with voice, but with an increasingly liberating pulsating line of graphics that makes you feel the dizziness and eternal desire for freedom of this unforgettable music. Every time she identifies with her portrayed heroes - Lady Gaga, Emy Winehouse, Alice, Frida Kahlo or the rebellious Janis Joplin - the author seems to take over the creative power of these strong personalities, against which the monotony of everyday life fades. Apparently, it is no coincidence that in the last cycle, the painful combinations of red, black and blue create anxiety and tension, but the rhythm of the swinging lines seems to soothe, drown out the forgotten music, detach from the hurtful challenges of everyday life. The artist is always a bit of a Loser, the author said in a cultural show. Why? Surprised journalist. Maybe it's because he's free. Free to drink wine, dance with Lady Gaga, go for a walk with Alice or swing with Janis Joplin. What we are watching in the last cycle of graphics by Audronė Petrašiūnaitė, which is exhibited live and virtually in the Art Gallery Kauno Langas.
