Art Gallery Kauno Langas, one of the oldest private galleries in independent Lithuania, started in Vilnius in 1991 and has been operating in Kaunas since 1992. It focuses on artworks of the classical genre: painting, graphics, sculpture. A separate field of art curated by the gallery is art jewelry. Previously, with three exhibition halls, the gallery held 25 exhibitions a year. Located in the Old Town on M.Valanciaus Street since 2000, in one of the most beautiful and highly visited tourist places in Kaunas, the gallery has gathered a circle of artists with whom it has been cooperating since the very first days.
Kauno Langas presents artwork in Lithuania and abroad, in virtual exhibitions and at the annual international art fair ArtVilnius, Vilnius, Lithuania. For 25 years the gallery Kauno Langas has been an active member of the Lithuanian Art Gallerists' Association. Kauno Langas provides art expertise services and has long-standing experience in enhancing the interiors of residential premises with a team of experienced architects, filling them with valuable and heart-pleasing works of art.
In this project the gallery presents artists who are widely known today not only in Lithuania but also abroad. In this prepared exhibition Art Gallery Kauno Langas seeks to reveal the diversity of painting and graphic genres developed in Lithuania by presenting stylistically different artists.
Egidijus Rudinskas (1961). Etching is the main area of graphic design. True, the artist does not shy away from lithography, pencil drawing, painting or computer experiments. As if to try everything to make sure the etching best reveals his intentions. There are no empty places in the artist's works, untouched by the needle - the background is printed with small dots of different size and density, drawing as if random lines, which convey the impression of a cracked, uneven surface. It is a long and painstaking process - only two or three larger format sheets are created per year. In his creations the artist carefully studies history. "I collect material, I photograph, so this semi-scientific work is created," says the artist. This is how the work From the Life of Raphael, created during the 2009 symposium in Urbino, Italy, appeared. The author even studied the maps of several cities where Raphael created, got acquainted with his life and thus this unique graphic work of E.Rudinskas was born, which, according to the author, can be read like a book constantly revealing something new.
Egidijus Rudinskas was awarded the prize of the Lithuanian Artists' Union and the International Book Art Triennial Prize for Illustrations (1997), the first prize at the International Biennial of Graphic Arts (Frankavila al Mare, Italy, 2000), the prize at the international small print exhibition Mini Print Cadaques (Barcelona, Spain, 2000), The Golden Badge of the Lithuanian Artists' Union (2008).
Aistė Ramūnaitė (1957) is one of the most prominent Lithuanian graphic artists of the middle generation. Both her works and her creative biography are memorable. In 1983 after graduating from the Lithuanian State Art Institute, she studied in Moscow for a couple of years where she obtained a master's degree in lithography and etching. But she calls herself an extreme fanatic of linen carving, and that is absolutely true. Linen carving is her favorite technique which she successfully combines with her own techniques: painting, creating different textures, merging colors - all this sometimes makes her graphic works closer to painting. From 2001 to 2013 the creative life of Aiste Ramunaite was influenced by artists who worked at the East London Printmakers graphic studio in North London, and Italian artist and musician Umberto Giovannini, founder of the Opificio della Rosa graphic studio in MontefioreConca, Rimini, Italy. All those who worked in the studio took care of the impact of the creative process of graphics on the environment, tried to use safer and more environmentally friendly technologies, and minimized the impact on nature as artists and citizens.
Egmontas Bžeskas (1974). In 1998 he graduated from Vilnius Academy of Arts, obtained a master's degree in art, participated in exhibitions, organized personal exhibitions in Germany, Sweden and Belgium. He has been looking for a unique expression since the beginning of his creative path, and he holds the record for the largest woodcut printed on canvas. The artist is constantly looking for new technological solutions, interestingly uses silicone material in his works, and combines a flat graphic image with voluminous, illuminated and talking sculptural objects. The combination of painting on a living human body, dance and music in E.Bzeskas' work gave birth to a number of performances that generated a special interest in Lithuania and Germany in 2001-2002 (The Red World with Body Painting performance, A.Savickas Gallery of Paintings, Vilnius, Bodypainting performance, International Festival of Youth Theater INSTANT ACTS, Berlin, Germany). Later the artist became interested in the production of events and musical projects, created visualizations for Lithuanian television and temporarily disappeared from the visual arts scene.
In 2020 and 2021 E.Bzeskas participated in the International Art Fair ArtVilnius with the Art Gallery Kaunas Langas and received the greatest interest in the Lithuanian Museum of Contemporary Art, also known as MO, which acquired the artist's works. Currently the artist is full of new ideas and creative plans.
Marius Jonutis (1965) graduated from the Vilnius Academy of Arts, majoring in graphics. Since 1989 he has been participating in exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad. M. Jonutis has organized over 50 exhibitions together with the artist N. Marcenaite and over 60 personal exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad. The artist mainly creates paintings, graphics, relief paintings and sculptures. He has written and illustrated the books "Blue Green" and "Worm Bird". Marius Jonutis is a modern narrator with images, characterized by a unique feeling of a folktale. Visualizing the plot in a unique creative manner, he subtly brings to the surface the archaic characters of the fairy tale, decodes them and creates a world of fantasies from them. In his work people, mythical characters from fairy tales, magical objects from textual characters turn into ambiguous figures that embody common human values.
Vilmantas Marcinkevičius (1969) is an exceptional figure in the context of Lithuanian art and one of the most prominent representatives of contemporary neo-expressionist painting in Northern Europe. While still a student he stood out for his bright and expressive painting, which was and is far removed from the traditional Lithuanian school of painting. After studying painting at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, Vilmantas was noticed by collectors from Denmark and thus discovered his way into the art world of the Nordic countries. Having worked with Galleri NB, one of the strongest art galleries in Denmark, for almost twenty years Vilmantas holds a very strong position in the art market in Scandinavia, especially Denmark. It is not only Nordic people who value the artist's work. In 2021 Vilmantas' paintings were successfully presented in the United Arab Emirates and South Africa,
10 years ago Vilmantas became a painter for the Danish royal family. For almost ten years he has been participating in group exhibitions, organizing personal exhibitions, and delighting his art fans with new works.
Vidmantas Jusionis (1962) is a representative of a family of artists famous in Lithuania. In 1985 he graduated from the Lithuanian Institute of Art. Lecturer at the M. K. Ciurlionis National School of Arts. Since 1990 Member of the Lithuanian Artists' Union. 2005-2006 received an individual state scholarship for art and culture creators. He became a symbolic figurative composition, mostly using surreal zoomorphic motifs, based on images of ancient Egyptian, Babylonian, Persian, and Japanese cultures. The paintings are dynamic, dominated by sharp combinations of pure colors, reminiscent of medieval stained glass. They have a clear semantic meaning of the images, a focus on decorative expression. Since 1984 he has been participating in exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad.
Audrius Gražys (1963) is one of the most interesting artists of Lithuanian contemporary art generation. The painter often participates in exhibitions, art projects in Lithuania and abroad. Audrius Grazys is unique for his artistic expression of the themes of vehement emotion, inventive artistic technique, often using the method of instant, often single stroke of the brush. Audrius Grazys graduated Vilnius Academy of Arts in 1989, and has been a member of the Artists' Union since 1993. The painter, author of scenography and installations has organized more than 50 personal and 70 joint exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad. After spending several years in Belgium and France, he lives and works in Vilnius. In 2016 A.Grazys was awarded the highest award of the Lithuanian Artists' Union - a gold badge for the versatility and reflexivity of artistic creation.
