Victoria Hotel Kaunas is located at Miško g. No. 11, Kaunas. Thanks to the ingenious design of architect Audronė Kaušpėdienė, the old pre-war red brick architecture and modern interior have been skillfully combined. This space has become one of the most important representative places in Kaunas. Famous guests of the city, basketball players and stars coming to perform at the “Žalgiris” arena stay here. The first floor space, which is adapted for exhibitions, regularly hosts exhibitions curated by the art gallery “Kauno Langas”.

Gintautas Vaičys exhibition Diaries will be open from 2025 02 12 to 2025 06 02.

Gintautas Vaičys, the long-time chairman of the Kaunas branch of the Artists’ Union, the organizer of the Antanas Samuolis international plein air, presents works from various periods, which we carefully selected together in the artist’s workshop – Savanorių prospekts, Kaunas. This creative artist's workshop still commemorates many important personalities for the cultural life of Kaunas. How many discussions about art, interesting bohemian evenings have passed here! Gintautas is located in Pranas Bartulis' workshop, which he took over after the artist's death, along with the author's entire sculptural legacy. Portraits created by the sculptor look out from the shelves, and Gintautas shows his work, stopping attentively at each canvas. The artist says that the paintings do not stay in the workshop for long, and new ones appear all the time, because there is no shortage of creative impulse.

The paintings, sparkling with bright, spring colors, in which the story is created with lively, intertwining multilayered strokes, take you somewhere far away. Every moment of work is alive in the author's memories. They are like pages of a diary - stories that contain the author's experiences, emotions, and experiences.

“I am a student of the famous Lithuanian emigrant artist Kęstutis Zapkus (Kes Zapkus). In 1993, I was under his tutelage for half a year at the Vilnius Academy of Arts. These lessons gave me a lot. We wrote diaries, studied them publicly, which helped me gradually discover myself. Today, I teach the same thing to my students at the Kaunas Art Gymnasium; it is important that they become personalities.” G.V.
